TC Harrison JCB Supports MKM Tool Hire’s Rapid Fleet Growth
TC Harrison JCB is proud to be supporting the continued growth of MKM Tool Hire, which now has nearly 1,000 JCB machines within its expanding hire fleet.
Since launching its hire operation in 2022, MKM Tool Hire has grown to 24 branches, with further expansion planned. Its JCB fleet, supplied through TC Harrison JCB, includes mini excavators, 1 and 3-tonne compact dumpers and Dumpster tracked carriers.
Supporting this rapid growth has meant adapting our service to meet the fast-paced demands of the hire industry.
“MKM’s growth means we have also been adapting almost daily to match it,” said Pete Braybrook, Dealer Principal at TC Harrison JCB. “They are very ambitious and it’s infectious – you want to be a part of that.”
With orders ranging from individual machines for urgent requirements to larger fleet additions, our team has focused on providing the same responsive service regardless of order size.
“For one thing there is no hierarchy here and no barriers to business,” said Pete. “Our mobiles are never off so if a customer like MKM Tool Hire contacts us with an urgent enquiry, any one of us can deal with it. We once had a new machine stickered-up and delivered to an MKM branch in three hours. And we want to provide the same level of service whether a customer is buying one machine or 200.”
Our support extends beyond supplying machinery. Using JCB LiveLink telematics, TC Harrison helps coordinate servicing nationally, identifying when machines require attention and arranging support through ourselves or another local JCB dealer.
“We effectively become a servicing provider, removing another hassle for our customers,” said Pete.
“We are also trialling a system called JCB Cockpit. This will have the ability to use AI to scan data very quickly within LiveLink, and their CRM, to instantaneously link information about their fleet of machines. This can then be sent to our servicing and parts departments who could proactively suggest work that needs to be carried out soon, and perhaps make special offers on, say, parts and service kits. It helps drives greater efficiencies.”
Our growing relationship with MKM Tool Hire is also being supported by continued investment across the TC Harrison JCB network. Following the acquisition of Gunn JCB in 2024, our expanded depot network now provides extensive regional coverage.
The next step is our new ‘mega depot’ at Cubley, near Ashbourne. The facility will hold fast-moving machines including mini excavators, compact dumpers and telehandlers, allowing equipment to be prepared, branded and supplied quickly to customers such as MKM Tool Hire.
“Cubley will hold stock of fast-moving items like mini excavators, compact dumpers and telehandlers for customers such as MKM Tool Hire, including those who may need a machine with a slightly different specification. These will be prepared accordingly, with the customer’s decals and signage applied, and other engineers will be freed up to do general fitting and servicing work, again boosting efficiency,” said Pete.
With MKM Tool Hire now nearing its 1,000th machine, the milestone reflects an ambitious partnership focused on responsive service, strong aftersales support and continued investment.
