Do You Have What It Takes to Be the Top Excavator Operator? Enter the National Operator Challenge!

Calling all excavator operators! TC Harrison JCB is hosting the National Operator Challenge, a competition searching for the region’s most skilled and precise operators.

Gear up to showcase your talent on 5th-6th April 2024 at the prestigious Wentworth Woodhouse grounds.

The top 3 drivers of the day will have the opportunity to compete at the Grand Final in the summer, for a chance to become the country’s top operator!

Here’s why you should take part:

  • Open to all: This isn’t just for JCB operators! We welcome all qualified excavators to compete.
  • Test your skills: The challenges will utilise 140X and 245X machines, putting your precision and control to the ultimate test.
  • Win big: Compete for the title of National Operator Champion and take home fantastic prizes!

 

The challenge

The challenge will include two simple timed trials, which can take place simultaneously with two competitors. These will test precision and dexterity.

If you fancy the challenge, you can complete each challenge with a maximum of three attempts at the event and your best combined challenge time from any one attempt will be taken.

 

Prizes:

The top three entrants from each regional heat will go through to the final – the date is fixed to Monday 25th June 2024. JCB reserve the right to change this date. Prizes are as decided, no alternatives of any kind will be offered to competitors.

Regional Prizes:

  •   Every competitor who attends the event will receive a JCB cap on the day.
  •   The top three of each regional heat will be invited to the Operator Challenge final. This will be held at JCB World Headquarters – it will include a factory visit, hospitality lunch, an evening meal and a one night bed & breakfast accommodation at the JCB Golf and Country Club (or another local hotel) on Monday 24th June.

– Each finalist will receive a JCB goody bag. This will be given at the final on Monday 25th June 2024.

Final Prizes:

  •   The top three competitors at the final will be offered the opportunity to take part in a Heli Visit to the opening day of Hillhead Show on Tuesday 26th June, as a VIP guest of JCB. If the Heli is unavailable (due to weather or any other reason), a chauffeur vehicle will be provided. The prize will include transport to and from the show (direct from the JCB Golf & Country Club), 1 ticket per person to attend the show, a guided tour of the JCB stand, lunch, and time to enjoy the show. All timings will be communicated to competitors in advance.
  • 1st Prize – All expenses paid, 3-night stay for two in Las Vegas. Economy plane tickets from a UK airport.
    Staying in a named Vegas hotel (room only basis) + $5,000 spending money to cover food, transfers and activities.
  • 2nd Prize – Tickets for two for the Sunday of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in the BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club). This prize is tickets only and will not include any transfers, hotels, or additional extras.
  • 3rd Prize – London city break for two. 2-night Hotel Stay in a central location with breakfast included and £500 spending money.

JCB will determine flights and hotels for all winners. Dates to be chosen by winners by final prizes must be redeemed by 31st December 2024. There are no cash alternatives for the prizes.

Kid’s Operator Challenge

There will also be a kid’s operator challenge, for budding future operators to get behind the wheel of a machine. In addition, there will be static machines to have a look around, with friendly TCH JCB staff on hand to answer any questions. The kid’s operator challenge will take place on a state-of-the-art digger simulator, as pictured below.

Terms and Conditions

This competition is open to anyone aged 16. All participants must hold a valid CPCS or NPOR 360 excavator operators’ card. Please ensure these cards are brought to the competition. Cards must be valid and in date. Anyone under the age of 18 taking part in the challenge must be supervised by an adult.
